Dermal Fillers

What is a Dermal Filler?

With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging as gravity pulls the skin’s underlying structures (e.g. facial muscles) downwards. Exposure to sun and years of muscle movement such as squinting, chewing, and smiling also contribute to tissue breakdown and loss of fat/collagen.

How do Fillers works?

Dermal fillers are used to restore facial harmony by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions & superficial fine lines, enhancing certain features and replacing soft-tissue volume loss.

Which Dermal Filler is right for me?

At DermaFashion Medical Spa, our qualified nurses can determine which type of injections and what injectable filler treatments are right for you.  Many of the natural fillers we use are composed of Hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced in our bodies.  Some of the Hyaluronic acid fillers we use include: Restylane, Restylane Lift, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, and Belotero. Radiesse, a type of filler made of calcium hydroxyapatite, is generally used for more severe volume correction and lifting needs.  Radiesse is a longer-lasting filler because the body forms collagen around the microspheres, adding bulk to the injected areas.

When will I start seeing the results of my Dermal Filler procedure?

Neuromodulators begin working within a few days following treatment, however their full effect doesn’t occur until about 7-10 days post procedure.  It is important to be patient until the full results of the neuromodulator reveal themselves.

How should I prepare for my Cosmetic Injectable Treatment?

Ideally, anyone who is undergoing injectable treatment should prepare for their procedure by avoiding anything that thins the blood.  We advise our patients to stop taking medications/supplements such as Aspirin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, fish oil, gingko biloba, ginger, and green tea for about 7-10 days prior to treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising.

How long does the typical Dermal Filler procedure take?

The average length of the cosmetic injections of Dermal Fillers is about 15-45 minutes per session depending on the individual, goal of treatment, and the number of areas being treated. DermaFashion develops a treatment plan for each individual’s rejuvenation needs.  Some individuals’ treatments may require a multi-step process in order to achieve the most natural looking and optimal results.

Are there any side effects associated with the Dermal Filler procedure?

Some of the most common side effects following treatment include, but are not limited to: bruising at injection site, numbness, temporary redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, or discoloration. Cosmetic injections require very minimal downtime, allowing patients to return to work and their normal activities soon after treatment. DermaFashion recommends patients to refrain from strenuous activities and excessive sun or heat exposure 24 hours post procedure.

    • How does this treatment compare to the plasma injections?
      • admin
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection is performed by extracting the plasma from patient’s own blood. Juvederm is a medication and it lasts about two years.
        • How long does the prp last in comparison to juvederm?

Hello Michelle, We would like to invite you into our office for a complimentary consultation with our head nurse, as PRP and fillers are very different procedures with different outcomes.
